Dr. Kommana was born in India and grew up in New Jersey. She earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University, graduating cum laude in Neuroscience. She then earned her medical degree at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and completed her ophthalmology residency at Temple University in Pennsylvania. Following her passion for advanced technology and surgery, Dr. Kommana completed a surgical fellowship at Weill Cornell in New York City focused on cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery.

Dr. Kommana is passionate about advances in cataract surgery with premium lens technology, ocular surface disease, corneal surgery, and laser vision correction. She is a member of the following professional ophthalmic associations: American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Colorado Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons, and the Cornea Society.
